Actor and professional cyclist Deepika Padukone is still riding high on the success of her last film Padmavat, a searing look at the origins of PayTM in India. “I feel blessed everyday that I got to work on such an important film,” confessed Deepika.
Speaking at a press conference held to denounce Deepika’s association with anything related to Tiger Shroff, the actress spoke on a wide range of topics, ranging from the state of women in Bollywood and the surge of topics in the recent times.
“Women in Bollywood are great. There’s nothing wrong and everyone is friends with everyone,” said Deepika, without any prompting.
When asked about her views on the recent biopics, including her ex-boyfriend’s Sanju, Deepika said, “I feel there are too many biopics these days. We seem to have forgotten our roots.”
Warming up to the subject, the Happy New Year actress added, “We used to copy content from Hollywood. Why have we stopped doing that?”
According to Deepika, the golden age of cinema was the period when popular Hollywood films like The Italian Job and French Kiss were being ripped off for mediocre Bollywood remakes.
“I’m not saying that we should copy from Hollywood, but I’m also not saying that we shouldn’t,” said Deepika.
