Case Filed Against the Makers of Sacred Games for Inaccurately Depicting How Roads Worked

While India’s first Netflix original Sacred Games was received with warm praise and cheers from a large part of the Indian audience, it didn’t go down well with some.

A case has been filed against the makers Anurag Kashyap, Vikram Aditya Motwane and stars Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte, because of  “inaccurate and offensive depiction of roads”.

Based on the award-winning novel by Vikram Chandra, Sacred Games tells the story of people going to and fro on the roads, while trying to stop/create catastrophic events that will destroy the city of Mumbai.

“The roads are never shown to be jammed with traffic or any such obstruction. It’s just plain rude,” reads a line from the official complaint.

The plea seeks to delete the part of of the episodes that depict the characters going about their business on the roads without getting stuck in soul-crushing traffic jams or even encountering a pothole.

A joint statement from the writers and directors was released earlier today, saying, “We’ve tried everything we could to maintain the authenticity of the city and stay true to facts. It breaks our hearts that we overlooked this aspect.”

The court still hasn’t announced its verdict, but here’s hoping that it takes a fair look at the gross negligence of the fact checkers and writers and that justice is served.
