A Twitter user had started a rumour recently that director Karan Johar is making a sequel of his debut film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday, and Tara Sutaria in the lead. After the Tweet went viral, the user came out to explain that the news was fake. But Karan Johar has confirmed that it is, in fact, true and official.

“I don’t know how this got out, but it is true,” he said, “There’s going to be a sequel to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, with Kartik, Ananya, and Tara.”

The director also clarified that it’s not going to be a reboot or remake. “The story is going to be set 50 years after the events of the original movie. Anjali, Rahul, and baby Anjali are long dead and decayed,” he added, unnecessarily.

The question arises: Why? Why make a sequel to something that was absolute garbage to start with?

“I want to deliver a powerful message that things can be a lot worse,” he said, “Nothing is going right. We have climate change, Corona virus outbreak, and the Best Picture Oscar went to a movie about how Capitalism is bad and the rich are toxic to our society. It’s a terrible time to live in.”

Through this sequel, he wants to tell people to put things into perspective. “Love your family,” he said.
