The Quantico star released a mildly traumatising video on Instagram earlier today, explaining why the movie is extremely important, especially to her.
The video starts with Priyanka singing a few bars from her song ‘Exotic’, interspersed with clips from her wedding to Nick Jonas. Right towards the end of the video, she reveals how excited she is to be a part of the movie and what it will mean to countless other women.
“It’s a story about one sister freezing out the other one for being uncool and bugging. It’s basically the story of my life, frame to frame,” says Priyanka in the video.
Priyanka also revealed that the incident where Anna almost grievously injures Anna, when they were kids, was also something that happened in her and Parineeti’s childhood.
“We were playing Serial Killer-Serial Killer, when Parineeti started crying like a baby when I stabbed her with my steak knife a bit too intensely. I mean, she was a baby at that time, but we were just playing.”
Parineeti Chopra was unavailable for a comment.
Priyanka and Parineeti aren’t the first Bollywood celebrities to lend their voices to an iconic character. Actor Amitabh Bachchan was famously the voice of Pingu the penguin, in the hit Pogo series Pingu, and Sara Ali Khan did her own voiceover work for her role in Simmba.
“We’re very excited to have Priyanka and Parineeti onboard as our Elsa and Anna. Our other choices were The Real Karisma and Kareena Kapoor, Shilpa and Shamita Shetty, and Kajol and Tanisha Mukherjee, so you can see why we went in the direction we did,” said Mahesh Samat, VP Disney India.
