It’s the small acts of kindness that keep us going during these unprecedented times. Random acts of kindness that prove humanity is still alive and kicking.
One such random act of kindness happened with 26-year-old Ahmedabad resident Mickey (name changed to protect 25-year-old Jyoti’s anonymity).
Mickey has been spending the lockdown away from her entire family but thanks to her paternal aunt’s video calls, not a single day has gone by where she didn’t feel close to her family. “She makes me feel like garbage about myself every time we talk,” said Mickey, “The lack of criticism from family can really get to you.”
Mickey’s aunt saw through her niece’s growing self confidence in her Instagram Stories and posts, so she decided to take matters in her own hand. “I knew something wasn’t right the day she posted a selfie with undone eyebrows. I started having nightmares about it”, said the aunt when asked about her motivation to help her niece.
Mickey is doing well with her now restored self-doubt and hopes for it to stay for a long time. “My niece is in her late 20s and if I won’t tell her how she will never get married now that all her good years have been wasted then who will,” said the proud aunt.
